On the RightsCON Tech Demo, DNS Africa Resource Center (DARC) presented its work in a bit to extend encryption on a large scale to members of the global village. From 5-8 June 2023, DNS Africa in collaboration with its partners, participated in the 12th edition of RightsCON 2023, a global summit on human rights in the digital age. On 6th June, DNS Africa hosted, in a hybrid format, a roundtable session on “Encryption: toolkits and interventions for the media” with other presentations under the subject “Protection, education, and encryption for journalists”.

The session saw the participation of representatives of CSOs, international organizations, and journalists from diverse global regions and captured participants’ experiences and reflections on the dire need to be educated and equipped for encrypting everything related to their daily engagement. It’s recommended that journalists, bloggers, and writers of like mind adopt the proffered solutions to the challenge of rights and privacy encountered by members of the fourth estate.
The session also confirmed the importance of working with other organizations on best practices, measuring and monitoring the abuse of journalists to promote a free world. with equal rights. The project was made possible for the Global Encryption Day by Global Encryption Coalition (GEC).
