APNIC appoints Jia Rong Low as Director General.
In a recent development, the APNIC Executive Council (EC) announced Jia Rong Low appointment as the Director General of APNIC.
He is expected to begin his term in October 2024. Many in the community know Jia Rong from his time as Vice President and Managing Director of ICANN’s Asia Pacific office.
Jia Rong brings an exceptional blend of experience, leadership, and vision to this role, making him the ideal candidate to lead APNIC into the future.With extensive experience working with the Internet community and facilitating policy-making, Jia Rong has demonstrated a profound commitment to fostering a stable, open, and secure Internet.
During his 11 years with ICANN, Jia Rong has contributed significantly to the Asia Pacific Internet community and established key partnerships with stakeholders, government bodies, and regional institutions. He has also served on the Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) Board of Directors.
The EC believes his deep involvement with regional and global Internet initiatives equips him with the understanding and strategic insight necessary to navigate the complex challenges facing our community. Jia Rong’s proven track record of collaborative leadership and his dedication to inclusivity are vital to addressing the needs of APNIC’s diverse membership.We are confident that Jia Rong will be an outstanding Director General, driving APNIC forward with integrity, expertise, and a shared vision for a better-connected world.
Jia Rong will attend APNIC 58 in Wellington, New Zealand, to meet with the community as the incoming Director General before officially starting in October.
